One could say that the seed of our work goes back as far as the time of Patañjali. The importance of a daily practice is described in his Yoga Sutras.

We would both like to thank Patañjali and all the other past and present teachers who have inspired us including (in alphabetical order) Tom Casey, Peentz Dubble, Roger Eischens, Jyoti Hansa, Ramanand Patel, Chris Saudek, Janice Vien, and Patricia Walden.

Without doubt, our greatest inspiration has come from BKS Iyengar. in his book Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patañjali, he interprets Sutras 1.13 and 1.14 as follows:

Practice is the steadfast effort to still these fluctuations. Long, uninterrupted, alert practice is the firm foundation for restraining the fluctuations.

Our work has been greatly influenced by the work of BKS Iyengar. His own devotion to practice and his contribution to the art and science of yoga has inspired students all over the world. We offer our work as a tribute to his “long, uninterrupted, alert practice.”

Continual inspiration and motivation comes from the teachers and students of Ancient Healing Arts (AHA) Yoga studio in Lebanon, NH and we would like to thank each and every one of them. It has been heart warming and inspiring to see their practices grow.

Our special thanks to Barbara Rooney who contributed to the very first “Developing a Personal Practice Workshop” at AHA and to Stephanie Salmon for her help with printing advice. Sincere gratitude to Marilyn Shannon for her editing and support, to Del Shannon for his support, to Jonna and Carroll Mackin, for creative space and support, and to Chas Meyers for sharing his office space, his ideas and support, and his wonderful cooking.
